Closure of Wade Camshafts

Formula Vee Competitors, As some of you may already be aware, Wade Camshafts is closing its doors at the end of this week. Wade Camshafts are currently the sole suppliers of Formula Vee camshafts and this means it is time for the Formula Vee in Australia to find a new camshaft supplier. CAMS require that suppliers of any controlled components are selected via a tender process and the National Technical Committee are currently developing a list of potential cam grinders who would be able to provide both a quality product and just as important, a quality service.

To allow for the time it will take to select a new camshaft supplier, FVAA have purchased a quantity of camshafts, which based on the number of camshafts Wade Camshafts ground last year, will cover us for at least 6 months. FVAA have also purchased the Master Camshaft that Wade Camshafts used to grind our camshafts so we have a master camshaft to be used by the new selected cam grinder. This was important so we can now be confident that camshafts will from the new supplier will be identical to the previous Wade Camshaft supplies cams. The supply of camshafts were picked up from Wades today so we now have some breathing room. The FVAA are still to develop a process for competitors to purchase these camshafts and we will advise how this will work over the next few weeks. I would also like to thank Boris Orazem from Vintage Vee Dub Supplies who donated the camshafts that Wades Camshafts ground for us. His support of FVAA is greatly appreciated. If you are in Vintage Vee Dub Supplies some time then feel free to thank the team personally. If you have any suggestions or comments please contact your State Technical Director or send me an email at: tech.director@fvee.org.au Regards Michael Lloyd National Technical Director – FVAA
