What do I need to race a Vee

Racing a Vee is easy. All you need is your race attire (suit, helmet, boots, socks, gloves, and balaclava), a simple tool box, 2 fuel bottles, and a tyre pump and good air pressure gauge. Its quite possible for a single person to go racing on the weekend.

How old must you be to race a Formula Vee car? This is coming from a Go-karter aged 13 years old.

    Hi Artin,

    Sorry for the late reply.

As long as you can obtain a CAMS licence you can race a Formula vee. I think it is 14 or 15 but best check with CAMS.

    Hi, Thanks for the information.
I do have some specific questions are I am just entering Fvee for the first time.
    1. What tools are recommended for the toolbox?
    2. Do pit crew require protective clothing ie ear muffs, fireproof clothing?
    3. Are fire extinguishers required by each team?

    thank you.

    Hello Paul,
    1. General tools used to work on cars. A collection of metric spanners, screw drivers, a jack, jack stands torque wrenches. Usually there is someone at the track who can lend you something if you need it as well.
    2. That would probably depend on the track, but generally no. In saying that some ear protection is always good to have as it can be very loud in the pits.
    3. Motorsport Australia requires each car to have one
