    Hi all,

I’m very interested in getting involved in some kind of club racing, and open wheelers appeal to me as being a competitive class of racing with a fairly level playing field due to standard speced cars.

I’ve noticed from my reading so far that the newer 1600cc cars can use a slightly wider frame, which can help to accomodate larger drivers. I’m about 188cm tall with a medium build – do I need to be looking at a newer 1600 car to be comfortable or are there specific 1200 cars I could look at?

    Thanks,

    Sean

    Hi Sean,
Different cars are set up for different sized drivers, I have just put a Sabre 01 on the market that I have had for 6 years, I am 187cm and 90+kg and by moving the peddle box forward was able to fit in comfortably. I understand that the Sabre 02 is also good for tall drivers, besides that you just need to jump in and try, it is always best to pour a new custom seat and being tall you will want to potentially change the peddle and gear shift positions which can easily be done.
Hope that helps, there are plenty of guys our size racing Vees so don’t let it stop you, get involved.
    regards,
    Andrew
