After 15 laps though there was none who could deny Shane Hart a well deserved victory. “I blew my race engine last weekend so we put the spare in for this weekend” was the claim from Hart.

A windy morning welcomed the Forula Vee grid back to Oran Park, the early start seeing several bleary eyed drivers and crew as the cars were called to the dummy grid. Clean, intelligent racing with the customary swarms of cars without doubt the highlight of the race...

The damp conditions which plagued the morning session had cleared, the circuit dried by the sun which sat high in the clear blue skies above. The first turn caught several drivers out, with Keiran McLaughlin spearing out of contention and into contemplation as his car got stuck in the mud.

Rain had initially been forecast, though it was a bright sunny sky that welcomed the crews. The circuit though had not enjoyed basking in the sun long enough to dry, streams of water and puddles threatening to punish the adventurous.

Daniel Reinhardt continued his current good form at Calder on the weekend.

Thirty five (35) Formula Vees will line up for qualifying this weekend at Oran Park for the third round of the best racing drivers championship in Australia, in what is the closest outright Championship pointscore for years......

It certainly wasn’t the best of starts to his 2008 National Formula Vee Series campaign, however Mark McHenry was able to draw a number of positives from the negatives during last weekend’s opening round at Phillip Island Raceway in Victoria.
