Hi

I have just purchased my first Vee and I am in the process of rebuilding it. The battery is currently a panasonic and it is about 11kg in weight. I have use Odyssey battreies in previous race cars but they were not "constant loss" electrical systems. can anyone help as to what type and size (capacity) and brand of battery you would recommend.

Congratulations on the purchase!

The current battery at 11kgs might be a little heavy. The constant loss doesn't pose any real problems as it just means every day during a race weekend you should give the battery a boost to keep it going. Provided you're not repeatedly starting the car unnecessarily a full charge should safely last a whole weekend.

So you can stick with an Odyssey and it is probably the most widely used. Two common sizes is the PC545 and PC680.

The PC680MJ is what I have used in the past and will probably continue to do so.
