Hi All
Well I guess you have all been wondering just where I am at with the Formula Vee category in Darwin. Well to say it has stalled is an understatement, a light post is moving quicker than the advancement of FVee in Darwin.
The support I'm getting from around Australia (FVee Assoc) and here in Darwin (NAMSC)has been and is fantastic, thank you to everyone I really appreciate it. David Ling and Laurie Feehan (both from NAMSC) have been brilliant in their advice and spreading the word amongst their many CAMS/Motor Racing contacts. For that I can't thank them both enough, thanks guys.
After listening to all the advice I have been given I've decided to open up the category up here to include 1600cc cars from the start. They are the way of the future so lets start how we mean to continue, encouraging new drives into the category. The roadblocks I'm trying to negotiate my way around are nothing new to anyone involved in motor racing. Money!!!!!! The hassle I am facing is I'm trying to sell my HQ Holden so I can afford to buy a great 1200cc FVee from a guy in NSW (who has been beyond patient with me, thanks mate). Another fantastic guy has offered to lease 2 cars up here also. As this has been an all consuming focus for me I have not been able to keep in regular contact with you all. So far I have maybe 3 cars (including mine) and maybe 4 drivers.
Coupled with starting a new job and all the hassles that go with it and coming up to the festive season I guess i've been a bit preoccupied. Apologies to you all.
If I don't get enough interest for the start of next year, my plan is to buy the car and race interstate whilst I drum up more interest. This is a great category and I have support from the National FVAA continues be great and drives me on. If you have any suggestions/advice/or someone who wants to buy a HQ please please please let me know. I have set a deadline of 31st January 2008 to have generated more interest in the category or we will not be starting at the first round of 2008.
Again I want to thank those of you who have passed on my details to your contacts and are yourselves interested in Formula Vee racing in NT. I am positive we will have it up and running one day, its just going to take a bit more time.
Have a very Merry Christmas and an enjoyable and safe festive season.
