Hello all, I'm new too the forum and still learning about formula vee. Recently did a driving course and loved it, so now I'm looking into a CAMS license and how too start racing something. I will be coming along too most of NSW events and hopefully be getting a pit pass for most too see what's going on down there. I also am an apprentice mechanic and restoring a BMW 2002. So my real question comes in as what do you all think of formula vee and how hard is it to get into? Also if anyone knows of any pit teams that need a hand I would love to come along and help out learn some more about the cars.

Formula Vee is easy enough to get into.

Basically you need:

- A CAMS Licence
- A race car
- Driver safety gear such as a fireproof suit, balaclava, socks, shoes, gloves, plus a safety helmet.
- Means to transport it to and from the track

After that you are pretty much in Formula Vee as a driver/entrant.

You can get a Vee relatively cheaply running a 1200cc car you don't need a huge car to tow a Vee with a 2.0ltr min is recommended for a light trailer .... although I used to tow mine with 1.6 ;)

If you're looking for some one to hang around with and learn from it's probably better to find someone close to where you live as it's better to see what happens to a Vee before the race weekend rather than at race weekend, cos if your doing any major work on the car at the track you've got problems.

Drop me a line on where you live in NSW and I'll see if I can get you in contact with someone close by.

Regards,

Ian
