15-05-2007 Serious accident at Sandown

Document Actions

During the weekends racing at Sandown, Andy Goodall (SupaVee Euro) and Brad Kelly (Sabre) were unfortunately involved in a serious accident at the end of the long back straight going into turn 6.

Both cars exited the track at around 170km/h, rolled several times and impacted the fence. In a testament to the safe construction of both newly upgraded 1600s, neither driver was seriously injured although both were renderred unconscious from the colllision and experienced concussion. The two were hospitalised overnight for tests and observation.

Both drivers have since been released and are now home resting and recovering.

The accident put a damper on what was otherwise a great weekend of close and exciting racing with multiple new drivers hitting the track.

The Formula Vee Association of Victoria wishes Andy and Brad a fast recovery and sends best regards to their families.
