12-10-2005 ATTENTION ALL VIC COMPETITORS

Document Actions

With Round 6 of the VSCRC just around the corner, the Vic committee thought it timely to draw your attention to various safety issues that will be checked at Sandown on Cup Day.

1. BALLAST:

Drivers have previously been reminded of the ballast requirements yet we are still seeing lead blocks dislodged from vehicles after on-track incidents due to the additional weight not being adequately secured.

ALL CARS WILL BE CHECKED AT SANDOWN TO MAKE SURE THAT ANY BALLAST IS SAFELY AND CORRECTLY SECURED INTO POSITION. CARS WILL NOT BE PERMITTED TO COMPETE IF BALLAST IS NOT CORRECTLY SECURED.

2. ROLL BAR CLEARANCE:

Following yet another roll over at Phillip Island last round, all cars will be checked for helmet clearance as per the 50mm requirement in the CAMS manual. This measurement is taken from the line between the main roll hoop and the front rollover structure. If you do not comply you should consider changing your seating arrangements to try and lower yourself in the car, prior to modifying any roll bars.

ALL CARS WILL BE CHECKED AT SANDOWN. YOU WILL NOT BE PERMITTED TO COMPETE IF THIS REQUIREMENT IS NOT MET.

If you have any questions on roll bar safety or any other technical/safety issues, please contact Frank Haire (5443 2336) or Andy Goodall (9803 0508) prior to the meeting.

These are simple issues that relate to your personal safety. There is no compromise with these important issues.
