FVANSW DRIVERS ATTACK WINTON FOR THE FORMULA VEE NATIONAL SERIES FINAL THIS WEEKEND
FVANSW members, Ben Porter, Steve Butcher, Ian Chivas, Asher Johnston, Dylan Thomas, Craig Hendrick, Michael Kinsella, Aaren Russell, and Leigh Porter, are ready for their assault on the CAMS National Series Final this weekend at the central Victorian Winton circuit.
National Series leader, Ben Porter, is looking to wrap up his third consecutive National Series following his clean sweep at the first round at Bathurst earlier this year.  Porter though will have tough competition from his Victorian competitors on their home ground, as shown by the close racing at Winton during the 2008 Formula Vee National Titles last December.
Porter, though needs to keep his eyes on both mirrors as his fellow FVANSW drivers will also be looking to knock him off his pedestal.
Stephen Butcher has been putting in all-nighters to rebuild his Stinger in time For Winton following his frightening roll-over at the last NSW Championship round at Oran Park only three weeks ago.  Butcher stole the Bathurst lap record from Porter at the first National Series round, and Butcher no doubt hopes to steal some race wins from him also at Winton.
FVANSW Life Member, and high profile Formula Vee identity, Ian Chivas, is set to make his National Series return in his Jacer, and hopes to cast his bad luck aside this weekend with some tough and fast performances.
South Australian and FVANSW member, Asher Johnston, will be returning to the location of his stunning English GAC Formula Vee's debut at Winton last December, and hopes to keep up his GAC's recent winning form in South Australian racing, while Dylan Thomas hopes to continue his improving form in his Stinger that was shown at the last NSW Championship round and return to the winner's circle.
The fast and respected Craig Hendrick is also an "ex-patriate" FVANSW member, and he will be returning to Formula Vee after a long break, this time in one of the enthusiastic Beacham Racing's very fast and beautifully presented Jacers. The talented Craig could be the proverbial "dark-horse" this weekend.
Current NSW Formula Vee Championship front runner, Michael Kinsella, could finally find that last bit of tuning necessary to knock of the Rheinhardt and Corcoran-engined Formula Vees and return back to the top step of a podium after a number of hard-fought races this year.
The deceptively fast and unpredictable 17 year-old Aaren Russell will be guiding his Stinger around Winton with the objective of keeping all other Formula Vees behind him, while the highly respected Leigh Porter has his trusty Jacer, and himself, ready and tuned for 2009 National Series final.
Any of the FVANSW drivers could challenge for the leading positions at Winton, with Ben Porter no doubt the favourite to retain his title in the superb John Kelcic (and Paul Corcoran of course!) built Checkmate, although the freezing Winton conditions could give give the "eskimo" Victorian locals an advantage!
All FVANSW members wish the FVANSW drivers at Winton, as well as all other Formula Vee drivers, the best of luck and safe driving throughout the weekend.
