Press Release 24 August, 2008

Daniel Reinhardt had the perfect hit out at the twisting and challenging Winton Motor Raceway this weekend in the week leading up to the Shannons National Championship round to be held at Sydney's Oran Park this coming weekend.

Qualifying saw Daniel run sub lap record pace in the Florentines Cafe / Australian VW Performace Sabre with a time of 1:35.3478 placing him in pole position for race 1, nearly 3/4's of a second in front of his championship rivals, Tasmanian Keiran Glover and tough Victorian stalwart David Frith.

The first of four races for the weekend had Daniel and Glover gap Frith early to make it a race of their own up front. Reinhardt looked comfortable all race leading Glover accross the line each lap. Glover did manage to lead Daniel through a few corners mid race only for Reinhardt to re-take the lead each time. Glover did hang on to Daniel for the entire race by sitting in the draft of Daniel's car, subsiquently setting a new official lap record with a time of 1:35.6647. Ultimately Daniel had things well in hand and and took the win in front of Glover and Frith.

Race 2 was again a Reinhardt and Glover show up front with the pair trading fastest laps the entire race, with Frith being the the best of the rest but just not able to match it with the front two. Glover put up a good fight in this one and lead two laps of the six lap event although Daniel showed his determination and skills by re taking the lead each time and in the process taking the lap record back with a fastest lap of 1:35.4857.

Race 3 was the thriller of the weekend with Frith latching on early to Glover and Daniel. The three boys drove away from the pack and were nose to tail all race. Reinhardt crossed the line in fisrt place each lap until on lap nine where Glover used the draft to slip by to take first position. Daniel used his driving smarts to set himself uop for a last lap pass but Glover hugged the inside line forcing Reinhardt to put one wheel into the grass. Whilst this was happening Frith slipped past Daniel to take second with one corner to go. Into the last turn Glover dropped a wheel off the circuit and in the process baulked Frith's run on him. Daniel used all of this to his advantage and passed both Frith and then Glover exiting the final turn, taking a supurb win. Glover again re-took the lap record by setting a fastest time of 1:35.4042.

Race 4 was all Reinhardt. Daniel, determined to stamp his authority on the race early put his head down and gapped Glover and Frith on lap one and controlled the race from there. With the thought of having no turnaround time before the team leaves for Sydney on Thursday Daniel settled into an easy rhythm mainting the gap to second and taking an emphitic fourth win for the weekend and in the process giving the team another perfect race weekend.
