It was a breakthrough round for the Volks Engineering team at round 2 of the Qld State Championships over the weekend with a floorless performance. The brand new 2007 spec Rapier proved it had what it takes after taking pole position and a clean sweep of all races over the weekend. It was the maiden victory for the car in what is effectively only it’s 5th ever race meeting.

Volks Engineering driver Paul Manteit said “The car was just perfect all weekend, I couldn’t have asked for a better result. It’s just rewards for the amount of time and effort that has been put into this project and full credit must go to John Alder for building a fantastic race car.”

Team owner John Alder says 'To come away from a race meeting with a clean sweep—in a car that is still being developed—makes the two years of effort to get it to the start grid extremely rewarding.  The entire team is ecstatic.'

Rapier race cars are a revolutionary design taking Formula Vee by storm, implementing some components never tried before in this environment. Utilising a state of the art airbag suspension unique to the Rapier, the cockpit adjustable spring gives the driver control of the car setup throughout the race.

Paul Manteit explains “There is a compromise in car setup for all other cars except for this one. In the Rapier you can keep on top of the car by adjusting the balance throughout the run to maximise your race pace”

The Volks Engineering crew now prepares for it’s next outing at Qld Raceway in May where it will try and replicate it’s recent results.
